A Dunedin District Court judge has refused to grant bail to a young woman charged over an allegedly race-based attack in the city on Easter Monday.
Charlene Amelia Hunt, 22, unemployed, appeared before Judge Stephen O'Driscoll today on a charge of assaulting a man with a weapon on April 9.
She was one of three people arrested after an Asian family was reportedly abused then attacked by a group of people about 4pm.
Defence lawyer Andrew Dawson asked for bail with conditions for Hunt but Judge O'Driscoll refused and remanded Hunt in custody to reappear later this month.
