A woman has been charged following the death of an elderly American man after a bus reversed into him at a South Island holiday spot.
Richard Philip Hyde, 73, was from Massachusetts, United States.
He was injured at the carpark of Mt Nicholas Station, near Queenstown on April 15 this year.
Hyde was treated at the scene and then airlifted by helicopter to the Lakes District Hospital in Queenstown, where he later died.
The vehicle was believed to have been making a slow backing manoeuvre.
Police charged the 62-year-old woman with careless operation of a vehicle causing death. She is due to appear in the Queenstown District Court on September 19.
Southern Discoveries chief executive Tim Hunter told the Herald in April that all of its staff were "deeply shocked and saddened" by the incident. "Our deepest sympathies go to his family and friends."
As the matter is now before the courts, police are unable to comment further.
“Very little of the actual animal is used in the taxidermy,” Mark Walker says.
