A woman has been charged with drunk driving causing death after a two-vehicle smash in Invercargill on Friday night.
Katherine Grace, 39, of Invercargill, was fatally injured when her car was in collision with a Nissan Terrano four-wheel-drive at the Queens Drive and Gala Street traffic light controlled intersection at 11pm.
Police said it was believed the Nissan driver went through the lights on red.
She appeared in Invercargill District Court yesterday charged with drink driving causing death and failing to stop. She was released on bail to reappear on May 29.
The accused woman and her two passengers were unharmed in the accident.
