KEY POINTS:
A woman was caught twice during a two-day police drink-drive operation in Gisborne late last week.
Gisborne police Senior Sergeant Roger Gray said the operation was carried out on Thursday and Friday nights and of 11 drivers found to be over the breath-alcohol limit, six of them blew more than double the limit.
The breath alcohol limit is 400 micrograms per litre of breath.
Mr Gray said the 39-year-old woman was caught on both Thursday and Friday nights.
She blew more than 1100 micrograms the first night, Mr Gray said.
Her licence was immediately suspended for 28 days pending a court appearance.
"She was found driving the following night and breath-tested again when she blew 1272 and her car was impounded.
"To top if off, a passenger in her car the second time was arrested for breaching the liquor ban in the central business district," Mr Gray said
The woman faces two drink-driving charges and one of driving while suspended.
" It just shows the stupidity of some people," Mr Gray said.
