Hamilton police found a woman's bite worse than her dogs' bark when she violently objected to the animals' seizure last night.
Police were called to an Avalon Drive property after the woman refused to hand over her three dogs to city council dog control officers, who had a warrant to seize them.
Once the council staff managed to round up the dogs and get them into the van, the 26-year-old woman jumped in the back with them and refused to get out.
She was arrested by police and bundled into the back of a patrol car where she tried several times to bite the accompanying officer on the way back to the station, police said.
The woman is due to appear in court on a variety of disorder and assault charges.
