A woman was left shaken after being dragged off a Wellington street into bushes.
Police say the 26-year-old was walking along a Newtown road early yesterday when a man approached from behind, put his hand over her mouth and dragged her into nearby shrubbery. He fled when she screamed.
Wellington Crime Squad's Detective Sergeant Haley Ryan said she did not receive any serious injuries. The attacker ran to Adelaide Rd and then Colombo St and got into a parked, dark-coloured SUV and drove at speed towards Rintoul St.
The man was described as a stocky Polynesian or Maori aged 30-45, about 175cm tall, with short dark hair. He was wearing dark clothing.
