Up to four men broke into a Palmerston North house last night and assaulted the woman living there, police say.
The 18-year-old victim saw two offenders, but there were possibly three or four men involved, in the attack which happened at a Peter Hall Drive house about 10.50pm yesterday, said Senior Sergeant Brett Calkin of Palmerston North police.
The woman suffered cuts and bruises but did not need hospital treatment.
The house was cordoned off for a scene examination this morning.
The woman had provided some details about her alleged attackers, Mr Calkin said.
"We have some suspects but I cannot comment on what their relationship was with her."
Police were keen to hear from anyone who saw a silver Nissan Skyline in the area between 10pm and 11pm.
