Police are seeking information about an assault in a Nelson suburb last night.
A woman was assaulted while on the footpath in Cobham Crescent, Stoke around 7.15pm by a man described as Maori, aged in his early to mid-50s, police said.
He is approximately 1.7m and of a slim build.
He had a beard and was wearing a grey sweatshirt and jeans.
Police did not believe the incident was related to an assault on a young girl earlier this week.
Anyone who saw suspicious behaviour in the Cobham Crescent and Railway Reserve areas is asked to contact Nelson Police Station on 03 546 3840.
