KEY POINTS:
A woman will appear in court in Auckland tomorrow charged with the murder of a Parnell man stabbed to death on Waitangi Day.
Reece John Shadbolt, 38, was found stabbed to death in his Parnell flat after police received a call from another woman on Waitangi Day.
The woman was arrested today partly on information police had gleaned from their inquiries and partly from information they received from the other woman who phoned to tell them about the dead man.
Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Beard said the woman who made the call gave "second or third-hand" information but was not the woman arrested today on the murder charge.
He said the woman was arrested after police spoke to the dead man's friends, associates and family members.
The arrested woman was known to Mr Shadbolt but Mr Beard would not say how long she had known him or what the relationship was.
He would not give any more details as the case was now before the courts.
