A 20-year-old woman has been arrested in relation to the fatal stabbing of a 22-year-old man in Hastings yesterday.
Police were called to an address in King Street around 2am yesterday morning and found the man with a significant stab wound to his upper abdomen.
He was taken to Hawke's Bay Regional Hospital in Hastings, but died seven hours later.
Detective Sergeant Emmet Lynch said the woman, who lived with the victim, was arrested at the scene and charged with assault.
Police are continuing with an ESR and forensic examination of the scene and a post mortem examination is expected to be completed today.
