A 35-year-old woman was arrested this morning by armed offenders squad members after local police were threatened with an axe in Levin.
The incident began shortly after 7am after Levin police received a complaint that a woman had allegedly threatened another person with a hammer at a Burns St, Levin house.
The Levin woman was found at a Goldsmith Cres house where she was arrested but ran inside the house, locking the doors behind her.
She then stood at a window armed with an axe, threatening to hit the first police officer who came through her door.
The house and street were cordoned off by armed police and the AOS called in from Palmerston North.
