KEY POINTS:
A Hamilton woman is appealing for the return of her twin daughters' ashes, stolen in a burglary.
Kylie Blacklaws, a self-employed website designer, returned home on February 26 to find her house ransacked.
"They took everything, from clothes and jewellery to computers, CDs, DVDs, you name it," she told the Waikato Times.
But the most bitter blow was the theft of the ashes of her baby daughters Emily and Hannah, contained in two chiffon bags.
Emily died when she was only a few hours old and Hannah died after six weeks.
"I carried those two girls inside me and their loss was heartbreaking and to have this happen, the pain is just beyond belief."
Police told her there was little hope of retrieving the ashes but Ms Blacklaws said someone must know where "my girls are".
"Someone ... must know something."
Three girls, aged between 14 and 17, have been arrested in relation to the burglary, and police say at least another two people were involved.
