A woman was airlifted to hospital early today in a serious condition after being stabbed in a domestic incident at a Waikato farming locality, police said.
Police were called to an address at Lichfield, between Putaruru and Tokoroa, just after midnight.
They found that an argument between a man and a woman at the Domain Rd house had become violent.
The woman received stab wounds and was taken to Waikato Hospital, where she was described as being in a critical condition.
The man also had a stab wound, which police said was not serious.
A boarder and young children were at the house at the time of the incident, but were not injured. Inquiries were continuing.
A man was arrested.
