A woman has been taken to hospital after falling on White Island.
The Rotorua-based Bay Trust Rescue Helicopter was called to the Bay of Plenty volcano at midday today after receiving reports of an injured woman.
When the helicopter arrived, St John paramedics treated a 64-year-old Rotorua woman who had suspected leg injuries and could not move.
She had slipped while on a walking tour of the volcano.
The woman was airlifted to Rotorua Hospital in a comfortable condition.
