A woman had to be airlifted from Lake Taupo after falling from her bike during the Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge.
Taupo's Greenlea rescue helicopter was this afternoon called to a section of the lake where the woman had fallen and had a suspected fractured femur.
She was flown to Rotorua Hospital.
The cycle challenge is New Zealand's largest annual cycling event, drawing in about 8500 competitors.
