The Waikato woman accused of visa fraud involving Filipinos has had her name suppression appeal dismissed.
Loraine Anne Candor Jayme, 35, faces 284 charges laid by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment including forgery, using false documents, obtaining by deception and supply of false information after allegedly being paid to falsify visas for a large number of Filipinos.
She lost her several month long name suppression bid after the High Court at Hamilton this afternoon threw out her appeal.
Her counsel Roger Laybourn submitted three main reasons for the suppression to continue - that it would identify her children and lead to bullying; it would impact on the health of family members in the Phillippines and would lead to the likelihood of death threats which have already been made.
Justice Wylie agreed with Judge Otene's earlier decision that the high public interest outweighed any other factors.
