KEY POINTS:
A 36-year-old Hamilton woman was extradited from Australia overnight to face kidnapping charges in Hamilton District Court today.
The woman, who was arrested in Queensland, was due to appear in court today on charges relating to the kidnapping of six-year-old boy in August 2006.
The woman was arrested last Thursday and held in custody until the arrival of New Zealand police to escort her back, acting Waikato Crime Services manager Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Nicholls said.
"She was kept in custody overnight and is due to appear in court today."
In August 2006 the boy was snatched from a Hamilton library and was taken into hiding, before being given up five months later.
The boy's grandfather Dick Halton Headley, 70, and his mother, Kay Halton Skelton, 38, were convicted for the kidnapping in last year. Three other people have also been convicted for their role in the kidnapping.
