KEY POINTS:
An Opotiki woman charged with 89 offences of fraud by deception, totalling an estimated $427,000 pleaded not guilty when she appeared in court earlier this week.
Donna Lee Gail Koopu, 46, was granted bail when she appeared in Whakatane District Court on Wednesday, following a successful application by her lawyer, Gene Tomlinson.
Mr Tomlinson entered not guilty pleas to the 89 charges of fraud, allegedly committed between September 2006 and March 2008.
Judge Ian Thomas remanded Koopu on bail for pre-depositions on July 9.
She is subject to stringent bail conditions, including a 7pm to 7am curfew, seven days a week and was ordered to surrender her passport to police.
