A fire at the Malaysian High Commission in Wellington is believed to have started from an unattended oil-filled wok.
The Fire Service was called to the high commission in the suburb of Brooklyn just after 5pm yesterday.
The ground floor was well alight and three women staff members were lowering themselves down from the an upstairs window when firefighters arrived, the Dominion Post reported.
The fire was extinguished a short time later.
The women believed the stove had been turned off and were upstairs watching television.
They suffered smoke inhalation and were taken to hospital for observation.
