Waikato police are looking for witnesses to a serious assault at a central city bar in Hamilton early this morning.
A 19-year-old man was stabbed at Axcess Bar, an inner city Hamilton bar, and was in a "relatively serious condition", Sergeant Phil Ruddell told NZPA.
It was a result of a fight involving two men around 2.30am.
Police say the bar was open and busy at the time, and are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
The man is undergoing surgery for stab wounds to his abdomen.
The bar was closed, and the area remains cordoned off.
The incident is now being investigated by CIB.
