Witnesses to fatal motorbike crash wanted

Anyone who saw a crash which left a motorcyclist dead in Foxton, 40km southwest of Palmerston North, early this morning should contact police.

A 50-year-old Horowhenua man died in the 4.45am crash, which happened when his motorbike and a silver Toyota and collided on State Highway 1 near the Mobil Service Station at the north end of Foxton, police said.

Neither the 18-year-old driver of the Toyota, nor his 16-year-old passenger, were injured in the crash, and speed and alcohol were not thought to be factors.

Anyone who saw the crash or had any information about it should contact Levin police.
