A cold snap that swept through Wairarapa this week bringing a dusting of snow to the Tararua Range is all part of a mixed bag of spring weather, according to the Met Service.
Forecasters have confirmed the weather in Wairarapa is likely to remain changeable and cold for the next couple of days but should improve as a ridge builds over the country bringing warmer weekend weather.
Gardeners should heed warnings to cover vegetables and young fruit trees susceptible to frosts that are likely until at least the weekend.
Overnight temperatures are likely to drop to 1C-2C in exposed parts of the district as cloud cover disappears and showers retreat to the coast.
The ridge that shows signs of building is expected to begin to dominate the weather, bringing settled, fine conditions to Wairarapa in time for the weekend.
