KEY POINTS:
Firefighters had to pull off an unusual rescue after a workman crashed part way through a roof while trying to clean it.
The man was water-blasting a neighbouring house when he plunged through the tiled garage roof, gashing his leg.
Noel Davies heard the bang at about lunchtime in Parnell yesterday and went to see what had happened.
"I saw the guy, then the blood and he said he thought he needed an ambulance. I thought 'you're quite right'."
St John Ambulance officers, worried the man had broken his leg, had to call the Fire Service to help winch him to safety.
