Junior Masterton kickboxer Jade Williams demolished an older opponent at the weekend ahead of his New Zealand representative bout at the 2014 IFMA World Championships in Malaysia next month.
Fortitude Thaiboxing head coach Bryce Baron said Williams, 16, defeated Aaron Hensley, 23, of Pemana Kickboxing, by TKO at the Capital Punishment 25 event at the Wellington Indian Centre in the capital on Saturday.
He said Williams had made a good hard start to the opening round of his undercard bout before he "took the fight to the guy" and started using his angles and landing cleaner shots.
"The guy was actually lucky to finish the first round and Jade came back to the corner and was sure he had him. He went back out, dropped him twice, and finished him about 20 or 30 seconds in to the second round," Baron said.
"Jade is talented and fully dedicated to his training and at 16 has a lot more in him yet. It was a total demolition on Saturday and a perfect build-up for him to the world champs in Malaysia."
