Wild weather set for much of North Island

There is wild weather on the way for much of the North Island this morning.

Thunderstorms are expected along the eastern coastline all morning.

Some will be severe, with heavy rain, wind gust up to 120 kilometres an hour, hail and even the odd tornado.

The storms will affect the area from Northland to Gisborne.
