Its good news for quake-stricken central New Zealand as wild weather eases, with a mainly fine weekend ahead.
No significant rainfall is forecast for the areas affected by Monday's 7.8-magnitude earthquake, including North Canterbury, Marlborough and Wellington from Saturday through to Tuesday.
A front is set to move onto the lower South Island tonight before weakening and moving away towards the North Island on Saturday.
