KEY POINTS:
A manslaughter charge has been laid alleging a Christchurch woman caused the death of her husband, Mark Fenton Campbell, by administering heroin.
After a series of remands on a charge of manufacturing the class A drug heroin, Kimberley Anne Campbell, 27, faced the manslaughter charge for the first time in the Christchurch District Court yesterday, the Christchurch Court News website reported.
Judge Philip Moran remanded her on bail to a pre-depositions conference on February 12 on both charges.
She will live at an address in Lower Hutt during the remand and will report weekly to the local police station, but the pre-depositions conference will be in Christchurch.
Defence counsel David Ruth said the police had been making inquiries as to whether a further charge should be laid against her.
Both charges arose from the same incident.
Campbell has been living in central Christchurch. It is alleged the two offences occurred in the city on June 26.
The manslaughter charge reads that she "caused the death of Mark Fenton Campbell by an unlawful act, namely administering a controlled drug to him and thereby committed manslaughter".
