As detectives try to find dairy farmer Scott Guy's killer, his widow is in hiding in Hawkes Bay.
Three weeks after the 31-year-old father of one was found shot dead at the end of his driveway, police have no leads and yesterday renewed an appeal for information on two cars seen driving along Aorangi Rd early on July 8.
"We want to identify two vehicles seen driving down the road on the morning of his death between 4.30am and 5am," said Palmerston North Detective Inspector Sue Schwalger.
Meanwhile, Mr Guy's widow, Kylee Guy, 27, is at an undisclosed address in Hawkes Bay, where she grew up, vowing never to return home.
"The little one [2-year-old Hunter Guy] certainly helps one go forward," said Mrs Guy's father, Glenn Bullock, last night. "All I can say is that it's unbelievable and you just have to cope with it."
Mrs Guy is due to give birth to the couple's second child in late September, but has struggled to sleep since her husband's death and is too scared to stay in Feilding while his killer remains free.
Yesterday their farmhouse was locked up, grazing sheep the only sign of life. A worker who declined to be named said Mr Guy's brother-in-law was running the farm while his widow was away.
Mr Bullock previously told Hawkes Bay Today the unsolved case made the grieving process harder.
"It leaves things up in the air, and worst of all it's left my daughter very frightened because this person is still out there," he said.
Mrs Guy's neighbours said they wanted answers and had no clue about the two cars of interest to police.
One woman, who lives across the road and is a friend of the couple, said the only person she usually heard at that time had been Mr Guy himself.
Another young woman, who would sometimes visit the Guys for a catch-up and drink, was still reeling from the death.
"Who would do such a thing?" she asked. "We just want answers, but no one knows the answers."
Police are also appealing for information on three chocolate Labrador puppies last seen at the Guy farm the day before the murder.
