We're hailing the return of this classic tipple, ideal for sipping in the garden on a sultry summer's day. For non-beer drinkers there is something far more appealing about the beverage with equal parts lemonade and beer, and for beer-fans the lower drink-driving limits and warmer weather make these holidays a topical time to experiment.
In keeping with these handcrafted times though, may we suggest choosing a craft beer to mix your lemonade with. Cue cringing from craft aficionados, but judging by the popularity of new craft-brewed shandies in the US this year, New Zealanders may have to take another look at this lighter offering.
Play around with different varieties; the less hoppy varieties can work best, and a good quality, preferably natural, lemonade helps. We've used The Yeastie Boys beer here, or try one of Wellington brewery Garage Project's new offerings. Simply pour the beer, add lemonade and say cheers.
