KEY POINTS:
I called my mum yesterday, as she went to Xinjiang province for a holiday two days before the explosion happened in Kashi.
"How is the travel? Did the explosion impact?" I asked.
"Not at all! I still feel safe here, we had a very good time in Xinjiang, even though the security checking is quite strict, and your dad's fruit knife was forfeited before we entered the Tianchi National Park." Mum said. I felt much better when I heard this.
"Dear, are you sure you're not coming back for the Olympics?" Dad asked for the tenth time during last two months.
"Sorry, dad, I have to work." Although I really hoped I could experience the Beijing Olympics myself.
My parents educated me since I was born to love my hometown Beijing and be proud of being a Beijinger.
I'm confident that China can manage everything well in this special Olympic time. Although I don't know exactly what the terrorists' motivation is (money or just being threatening), what I can tell is most educated, conscientious and patriotic Chinese are cooperating in hosting the Olympics and really expect it to be successful.
I still remember when I was studying in primary school, Beijing applied to host the 2000 Olympics, the first time it had applied. On the night of final poll, my parents and relatives got together waiting for the poll result.
Most Beijing families were like mine, treating that night seriously as one of the most important time in their lives.
They prepared champagne and a special dinner to celebrate the coming good news for Beijing.... but, the result let down all Beijingers.
I was too young to understand my parents' disappointed face when Mr. Juan Antonio Samaranch announced "Sydney will be the country host of the 2000 Olympic Games".
But on the 13th of July 2001, Beijing finally got the "ticket" to show the world "New Beijing, New Olympics".
Now it is three days to go!
It's good to hear One News anchors use "Xiexie" (Thank you) and "Nihao" (Hello).
I'm so excited, I'd like to tell everyone who is still doubtful of the Beijing Olympics that Beijing is much greater than you imagined you've heard, and even you saw in some irresponsible media.
Just go and experience the real Beijing yourself!
I am so proud of Beijing!
