Who's sabotaging the Cardrona bra fence?

The bra fence in Cardrona Valley is a tourist highlight.

Allegations are flying in the Cardrona Valley over an attack on the the area's famous bra fence.

Sean Colbourne, whose horse-trek and quad-bike tour business The Cardrona borders the fence, is fuming after hundreds of bras were snipped off by two women wearing hi-vis vests on Tuesday.

Mr Colbourne said his partner Kelly Spaans noticed the bra removal taking place in broad daylight and stopped to ask the women what they were doing.

"They said they were cleaning up the valley," Mr Colbourne said.

"I'm [annoyed] about it because it's vandalism and theft ... for some arrogant reason they think they can get away with it.

"I'm a ratepayer and so are the landowners and we're [annoyed] about it and so is the pub and so are the other businesses in the valley because it [bra fence] gives us another colourful ingredient in Cardrona. It's probably Cardrona's most popular attraction at this time of year. Thousands of cars stop each week to take photos."

The fence has been repeatedly stripped of its colourful bras over the years, usually after dark.

Each time, the roadside attraction had risen again and this time would be no exception, Mr Colbourne said.

"Rest assured, the bras will go back up."
