The number of reported cases of whooping cough in the Auckland region has doubled in recent months.
The Auckland Regional Public Health Service is recommending parents check their children are fully immunised ahead of the holidays.
Medical Officer of Health Dr Andrew Lindsay says there were about 30 notifications of cases in November, and December is looking likely to have a similar or greater number.
He says this compares to 12 cases in the month of August and 17 notified cases in October.
