This handsome steamer trunk is inscribed with the initials E.M.J. If this trunk could talk, what tales would it tell?

Prior to the 1950s, international travel was mainly by sea. Was this trunk winched onto a majestic ocean liner to set sail for the far corners of the globe? Did the adventure start in New Zealand or just end here?
