'Who has a gun? Give me a turn': Shocking footage emerges of gang fight

Shocking footage of the moment shots were fired during a gang clash in Whakatane has emerged.

The Mongrel Mob gang member taking the video during a funeral procession in the Eastern Bay of Plenty town yesterday can be heard yelling: "Who's got a gun? Shoot back", after two shots were fired.

The video shows dozens of patched mob members walking up a street before two shots ring out.

The members begin moving back quickly including the video taker who takes cover behind an idling vehicle yelling: "F***, who's got a gun man, gis [sic] a gun. Give me a turn".

Posted on Facebook 12 hours ago the footage has been shared 864 times already and has attracted dozens of comments.

An investigation has been launched into who fired the shots as the body of Mongrel Mob member Tahu Kingi was being transported in a motorcade from Kawerau to Whakatane.

Acting Eastern Bay of Plenty Area Commander Senior Sergeant Richard Miller called for anyone with recordings of the funeral procession to come forward.

He said police were making inquiries after the shots were fired at about 2.15pm near the corner of Valley and Arawa Rds.

The motorcade moved on from the crematorium without further trouble yesterday evening.

Miller said police were speaking to a number of people.

A 21-year-old man affiliated with the Out Back Blacks gang had been charged with possession of an offensive weapon. He was due to appear in Whakatane District Court next Tuesday.
