Job title: Marketing executive.
For: Tru-Test.
Craig van Asch has an electric job right on the crest of the "knowledge wave".
He has just become a marketing executive for leading agritech company Tru-Test, makers of must-have gadgets for farmers worldwide such as electric fencing, weigh-scales, and milk meters.
The company has just bought New Zealand fence brand Cyclone - founded in 1903 - from Fletcher Building, and also recently acquired electric fence makers PEL Industries.
Van Asch, 32, who has a bachelor of management studies in marketing and international business from the University of Waikato, beat 125 applicants to the role.
It was a job advertised "blind" - the company wasn't named in the advertisement.
The ad asked for strong leadership and communication skills, and described the job as a "career opportunity second to none".
Van Asch previously spent three and a half years working with Feltex Carpets as territory manager exports, and wanted to move from a sales-focused role to marketing.
Originally from Marlborough, van Asch spent much of his childhood with his sheep-farming grandparents, so life down on the farm isn't unfamiliar.
With Tru-Test, he is working as a category manager for fencing and accessories, and says the "highly entrepreneurial" nature of the business excites him.
"In the last couple of months they've bought two new companies, and they're on a huge expansion curve."
