What were you doing before accepting your new position?
I was a service manager within the Ministry of Education, special education, Manukau District. I was responsible for leading a multi-disciplinary team providing service to young people with special education needs. This involved managing service provision and fund management.
Why did you apply for this job?
My professional training underpins my competence in a leadership/management role and I was looking for an opportunity to extend my career in this area. This position allows me to apply my experience and energy to delivering sustainable results.
What are the major challenges ahead of you?
I need to understand the motivation and history of my team so I can provide leadership and raise the capability of people in our industries.
I aim to contribute to this by developing a thorough understanding of industry aspirations in our sectors and tertiary national education training priorities.
What does being the national service delivery manager mean to you?
It gives me the opportunity to support and lead Electrotechnology Industry Training Organisation's skilled, nationwide, service delivery department. This dedicated team delivers human capability and industry training to more than 1300 organisations and 7400 trainees across 11 industry sectors.
What else might you have done?
I would have continued pursuing my personal and professional growth. Working with people so they can achieve their potential is also important to me.
What do you do in your spare time?
I spend time with my husband and three sons. I also am committed to being involved in my community, which adds a cultural and spiritual richness to my life.
