Were you one of the people who applied for this job and wondered who got it?
Job: National sales manager.
For: Schwarzkopf.
James Kennedy-Grant's goatee beard is a different colour every day - courtesy of his colleagues - but he's having the time of his life.
But initially he didn't think the post of national sales manager for a hairdressing products company was the job for him.
When approached by a personnel consultant, Kennedy-Grant, formerly the national sales and marketing manager for Armitron Paper, was tentative. It didn't seem like his sort of environment. Anyway, he adds: "I'm going bald!"
But after a "really open, frank and honest conversation" with his boss-to-be, he was hooked.
"I love what I'm doing," says the 29-year-old during a two-week national trip to meet clients.
"The synergy is amazing - it's not just me in a suit talking to them. They respect me for being a suit, and I respect them for being incredibly successful business people."
He has been surprised by the amount of ideas-sharing and collaboration that goes on in the business, having thought that people would be more protective of their patches.
"The clients are the coolest people." Kennedy-Grant's new job involves helping sales teams to chase sales targets, managing the numbers and driving new business acquisition. He is based at Schwarzkopf's Mt Wellington offices.
Katherine Emile of Pope Personnel says she received 70 applications for the post.
Three people made the final shortlist.
