Job title: Marketing manager, youth and seniors, ANZ Banking Group
Deanne Bloom, 30, is something of a professional mind-reader. Anticipating and understanding customer needs and attitudes, which she describes as "constantly changing", are among the key tasks of her new post.
The newly created job attracted Bloom because it focuses on two specific groups of customers: the oldest and the youngest (those under 25), "who warrant a specialised approach".
"I like trying to understand how people's different attitudes drive their behaviour as consumers of a product or service," says Bloom, an Aucklander with a degree in politics and history and a post-graduate diploma in marketing and management.
The bank needs to be "constantly innovating ... but not overcomplicating things. We must keep things simple and relevant. People don't have time to wade through masses of information."
What makes the job so interesting, she says, is analysis of the banking scene and economic, market and international trends.
She will also be offering "centralised marketing support" for the bank's plan to create clusters of branches under local chief executives.
Bloom was formerly marketing manager for niche consulting company Decision Lab and also also worked for Kelly Tarlton's Underwater World, Canon New Zealand and Sky City.
