Job title: General manager sales and marketing, Ezibuy.
Kerry Ludlam loves the rag trade.
He comes to his newly created Auckland-based position with mail-order clothing company Ezibuy from Specialty Brands, the holding company for the Outdoor Heritage retail chain, which makes and sells the upmarket Rodd & Gunn and Logan clothing ranges.
Two things prompted Ludlam, 41, to chase this job: promotion within the apparel industry and "the chance to work for a company that has built a huge amount of respect in New Zealand. It's a brand you can trust".
And he loves the immediacy of the clothing business.
"When you put a product in the marketplace you know within the first five to 10 days how it's going to go," says Ludlam.
"And it's an industry that affects everybody."
Taranaki-born Ludlam has a bachelor of management studies from the University of Waikato, with majors in economics and accounting.
He followed that up with a University of Auckland business diploma in marketing.
He comes to Ezibuy at a time the New Zealand company is taking on the Aussies on their own turf.
Although it has had business across the Tasman since 1996, Ezibuy last year bought the customer database component of Australian retail giant Coles Myers.
Ezibuy predicts that this will help its Australian business to double in the next few years.
Ezibuy has about 200,000 active customers on each side of the Tasman and combined sales of more than $100 million a year.
