Job title: Communications manager, Real Estate Institute of New Zealand.
Margaret Reid
Rotting homes, the property boom, price banding ... Margaret Reid has stepped into the Real Estate Institute's newly created communications role at an interesting time for the industry.
A number of real estate issues have made headlines this year, and at the same time the institute itself has been going through a process of change under executive director Boud Hammelburg, who was appointed in February.
"We want to provide a leadership role to give guidance to our members on how they can better serve the public both vendors and buyers," Reid says.
"We would also like to start helping the public more in terms of what they should be aware of when purchasing property."
Her role includes responsibility for initiating and implementing both internal and external communication strategies, and managing the institute's national promotional programmes.
She will not, however, be the institute's media spokeswoman. That job falls to the president, Graeme Woodley.
Reid has a commerce degree from Victoria University.
She previously worked for Telecom, where she was communications development manager and then business market development manager.
Reid also has energy sector experience, having worked for UnitedNetworks when it was establishing itself as what is now one of the country's largest lines companies.
