Job title: Brand and sponsorship manager, ANZ
Anne-Marie Paddon
Anne-Marie Paddon, 31, has been interested in marketing since her student days, when she completed a BCom in marketing and a BA in social anthropology at the University of Otago.
"I guess I'm really just interested in the psychology around why people are drawn to certain things, why they would choose you over the competition and the other choices they have," she says.
Professionally, that interest has led her from her home province of Southland to jobs with WestpacTrust, New Zealand Post and now the ANZ, in Wellington and Auckland.
She began in marketing and communication roles and then moved to corporate branding.
Her anthropology degree has been useful in these roles, she says.
"I think in New Zealand now, with it being a lot more multicultural than it used to be, you have to consider different cultural groups when marketing products and services."
She says she is enjoying the open, professional and friendly environment at the ANZ.
One of her first challenges is to review the bank's sponsorship portfolio in light of recent changes the bank has been through to ensure that it still fits the corporate and brand strategy.
"We'll be continuing to look at ways we can get out among the community not only to help New Zealanders but also let them know that we're here and we've changed."
