Senior commercial manager - supply chain mobile products, Vodafone
Q. What were you doing before accepting your new position?
A. I was contracting for TVNZ in the marketing department for TV One. This role varied across the TV One brand portfolio providing support in the team and project managing campaigns for off-air media.
The timing was in the build-up to the 2005 new programme line-up on TV One including Close Up. The position was perfect timing as I had just returned from Britain where I had been working for the past four years.
Q. Why did you apply for this job?
A. I was attracted to this role with Vodafone for a number of reasons. Vodafone was a company that I had on my radar as a potential future employer, they are leaders in mobile communications, and I like working for leaders.
I had heard that the environment would inspire me, provide challenges and be a company that gave me the opportunity to reach my personal work goals.
Q. What are the major challenges ahead of you?
A. Firstly this is a new industry for me. Learning the environment and the "speak" will provide its challenges as will the on-going partnerships I will be building with suppliers and partners. It will be a steep but worthwhile learning curve.
Q. What qualities do you bring to the job?
A. I am very people focused, people are what gets me going. I enjoy interacting with people at all levels. I do what I say, I am commercially aware and business savvy. I put my all into the job and set the bar very high.
Q. What do you expect to be the most enjoyable parts of the job?
A. Having the opportunity to add value and making a real difference for Vodafone now and in the future, that's just the best.
Q. How will you judge success in your new job?
A. Success means different things to different people. To me, I will say I am successful in my role if I am reaching and exceeding my goals, building and strengthening my ongoing and new relationships both internally and externally.
