Job title: General manager, Nationwide Finance
Tony Kinzett
It's an "aggressive, go-ahead company" with opportunities galore. That's what attracted Tony Kinzett, 43, to his new role.
He's about to start work as general manager of Nationwide Finance, leading a "younger" team of 17 and with a mandate to expand the business.
Nationwide is part of the Hanover Group, created last year by millionaire Eric Watson and business partner Mark Hotchin to consolidate their finance and investment assets in an effort to push themselves on to the radar screens of New Zealand's financial services sector.
Kinzett will report to Hanover Group chief executive Kerry Finnigan.
The company, on the scene since 1973, lends money for commercial projects, says Hamilton-born Kinzett.
That might be anything from someone buying their first truck to go into business, to farmers investing in major machinery.
"It's about helping people to achieve their business goals and working with them."
He'll be on the move, building relationships with clients and checking out their proposals. The key to succeeding in such a role, he says, is simple: "Communication, communication, communication."
Kinzett spent 10 years with AGC Finance, leaving as executive director of its finance arm and commercial manager for New Zealand.
That was followed by a stint in the Medical Assurance Society, which dealt with insurance and lending to doctors and dentists. He was last with Guardian Trust.
