Sara McGlashan liked what she saw at a year 7 and 8 schoolgirls cricket tournament in Masterton last weekend.
And McGlashan should know, because not only is she the New Zealand Cricket women's development manager she is also a regular in White Fern sides since 2002.
In fact, she has played more than 100 one-day internationals for her country, as well as more than 50 Twenty20 matches.
McGlashan's Masterton visit was part of an NZC promotion to boost interest in the women's game at year 7 and 8 level and, according to Cricket Wairarapa development officer Sam Curtis, she was delighted with the enthusiasm and skill of the players on show.
"Sara was very positive about the talent on display and impressed upon the girls what they needed to do to further advance their skills," Curtis said.
