A beach closed three times after a shark came close to shore is open today.
Coromandel's Whiritoa Beach, between Whangamata and Waihi, was closed yesterday afternoon when a bronze whaler was spotted nearby.
A lifeguard at Whiritoa said the beach was open this morning and there had been no sign of the shark.
Conditions were "pretty overcast" but there were still plenty of people on the beach this morning, he said.
Yesterday, holidaymaker Derron Bishop told One News the shark came around every afternoon, and got closer to shore each time.
