New Zealand riders finished in the leading bunch in the latest round of the Grand National Cross-Country Championships held at Snowshoe, West Virginia, last weekend.
Pahiatua motorcycling ace Paul Whibley, who has been battling injury problems, placed fifth in the XCI Pro Class, with Wellington's Rory Meads sixth, a further eight minutes back, handy results but not exactly what either of the Kiwis wanted.
Whibley is the defending GNCC champion but his chances of retaining the No1 ranking on his Yamaha YZ450F bike, now look remote as he is sitting fifth with only four races to run.
Meads, the New Zealand enduro champion in 2011, is also out of contention for the main prize, sitting in 17th place.
