Law, justice and governance: $2.7m New Zealand played a key role in brokering the peace process in Bougainville, after years of civil war. The Village Courts project ($50,000 this year) aims to reintroduce a Bougainvillean legal system.
Civil society (NGOs): $1.4m Leitana Neihan Women's Development Agency, also in Bougainville, has $200,000 this year for work using village counsellors to strengthen families facing domestic violence, rape and child abuse.
Education: $3.3m School Journals Project got $510,000 to record and publish local work.
Health: $5m A campaign to increase condom acceptance and use and improve distribution has gained $1.5m.
Rural development: $2.6m Fresh Produce Development Agency in Goroka ($400,000 this year) established in 1989 with NZ help. Assists farmers distribute fresh fruit & vegetables.
