Variety was the spice of life at the Where's Wally adventure race held on the picturesque Te Whanga and Cavelands properties at Gladstone on Sunday.
The event consisted of a 10km mountain bike ride, 6km run, 600m kayak, caving and a river crossing via flying fox.
Competitors in a range of ages and abilities took part, all of them making it to the finish line with their bodies still intact.
The contestants were able to choose the order in which they did each discipline in the even that had 12 checkpoints.
Along the way, they could earn bonus points in mystery activities which included knocking over a beer can with a tennis ball, jeep driving, running through tyres in army commando fashion and a stilt walk.
Two-person and four-person teams competed for their own trophies.
The two-person teams division, competing for the perfect pear (so-called because the trophy had a pear on the top of it), was won by Sally Newcombe and Donna McCoy calling themselves the Shamrocks, while second went to Northco's Steph Bunny and Will Pepping.
The four-person division saw the Where's Wally Gratest team trophy up for grabs _ funnily enough, that trophy had a cheese grater on top.
The winners were the Cops and Robs team of Michael Hammond, Josh McKay, Lloyd McKay and Robert Hammond, while the runners-up were Frankly Speaking, alias Spencer Palliser, Ray Spencer, Terry Blackburn and Ashley Robyn-Howard.
Masterton adventure company AcceleRate organised the event and its next effort will be a race for secondary school students on Sunday, May 2.
Where's Wally winners are truly the grate-est
