Residents of a coastal village near Dunedin are trying to track down a mysterious "granny".
The owner of Karitane Store, which doubles as Karitane's post office, said she is keen to find the intended recipient of a letter containing a Christmas card and a family photo but addressed only to "granny".
Sue O'Neill said the letter arrived just before Christmas and has gone unclaimed. It did not have a return address so she put the photos and card on the counter of the shop in a bid to find the recipient.
The family in the photo is named Mundy.
"Obviously, [the Mundys] have gone to a lot of trouble to get some nice photos for granny and we want her [to get them]. We would love to find granny if we can."
