KEY POINTS:
A young wheelchair-bound man was the victim of a "cowardly attack" in his Napier home last night, police say.
Detective Sergeant Sean Hansen said the 22-year-old disabled man was in his Marewa home alone shortly after 8pm, when two men entered the Russell Rd property.
He was tackled from his wheelchair and restrained by one of his attackers on the floor of his lounge, while the other searched the home.
Both his attackers left minutes later, one on foot and the other on a bike toward Storkey St.
The man was shaken by the attack but not injured.
The attackers are described as Maori, aged in their early 30s. One was wearing a high visibility vest.
"This is a cowardly attack on a vulnerable member of the community and we are seeking the assistance of the public," Mr Hansen said.
